Thomas Dolby
Club Cafe, Pittsburgh, PA.... I got to interview Dolby on WYEP prior to the show, and I asked him first about his work in interactive audio (and the fact that he made a ton of money licensing software to mobile phone companies during the ringtone era) and then about the fact that he once said that touring no longer made economic sense for him and he would likely never go on the road again. He replied that success in one led to the freedom to do the other, and so he was back on stages doing solo shows in which he was like a mad scientist of the synthesizers. He wore a camera strapped to his head, feeding a screen behind him so you could see what he was doing from his POV. It was pretty fun, and great hearing these songs live after thinking that would never happened.
