Marshall Crenshaw

Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, PA.... In conjunction with our partners at the World Cafe, we at WYEP booked Crenshaw to come to Pittsburgh to do two gigs: a World Cafe taping in the small theater in the Andy Warhol Museum and a set on WYEP's outdoor stage later that same day for WYEP's Summer Music Festival . At this performance, I remember Crenshaw and World Cafe host David Dye geeking out over memories of the Detroit rock history. They also talked about Crenshaw's latest album  What's in the Bag.  Revelation: after completing the album, Crenshaw was carrying the master tape down the street in a bag, which led to the album's title. The album itself is the answer to the titular question.

Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ.... I finally confirmed the date for this show recently. I don't really recall much of Crenshaw's set, but I was very glad to see The Greenberry Woods. Loved their album and they were a good live band as well.
